Topic 2 Flashcards
Frontal/coronal plane
Abduction/Adduction
Saggital plane
Flexion/Extension
Transverse plane
Rotation
What is an angle?
the space between 2 intersecting lines or surfaces
Absolute angle
Orientation with respect to a fixed line.
e.g. angle of tibia from fixed vertical/horizontal line
Relative angle
Angle of one segment relative to another.
e.g. angle of the tibia relative to the thigh
Clockwise
Negative
Angular displacement
change in the angular position of an object from start to finish.
Measure in degrees or radians, and positive/negative.
Anticlockwise
Positive
Angular velocity
Rate of change in angular displacement.
= angular displacement / time
Angular accelaration
Rate of change in angular velocity.
= angular velocity / time
Tangential linear velocity
linear velocity of a point on a rotating segment. Tangent to the path of the object & perpendicular to the radius of the circular path.
= length of radius x angular velocity
Tangintial linear acceleration
linear acceleration of a point on a rotating segment.
perpendicular to radius of circular path
= radius x angular accelaration
Radial/centripetal linear accelaration
accelaration due to change in direction of velocity vector.
directed towards centre of rotation.
= velocity^2 / radius
Linear displacement =
radius x angular displacement
