Topic 14: Stoichiometry, Video C: Mass Based Calculations Flashcards
You must always convert from what to what before you can connect reactants and products.
Mass to moles.
How do we do gram to gram stoichiometric calculations?
Grams of A, use the weight of substance A to calculate moles of substance A. Use the coefficients of A and B from the balanced chemical equation to get moles of substance B. Use the molecular weight of substance B to get grams of substance B.
What is the first step in Stoichiometric calculations?
Step 1: Write and balance the chemical equation.
What is step 2 in stoichiometric calculation.
Convert all masses from grams to moles.
Wht is step 3 in stoichiometric calculation?
Use the stoichiometric table to find the LR and predict the moles of desired species. (reactant or product).
What is step 4 in stoichiometric calculation.
Convert the moles of product (based on the limiting reagent) to grams of product.
