Topic 14: Stoichiometry Calculations, Video A: Limiting Reagent Flashcards
1
Q
What is a limiting reagent?
A
The limiting reagent is the reactant that runs out first during a reaction. This reactant is completely consumed (all used up).
2
Q
What is the excess reagent?
A
The excess reagent is the one that does not run out. Some of this reactant remains left over after the reaction is complete (is not all used up).
3
Q
The balanced chemical equation allows us to do what?
A
Compute the reactant consumed, reactant left over, and product produced.
4
Q
When doing unit conversions which unit goes on the bottom?
A
The unit that you want to cancel. The product unit you want on top.
