Q

What is the Higgs boson particle?

A

Higgs boson particle is an elementary particle whose existence is predicted in the Standard model, which describes how the universe is constructed.
The Higgs boson is one of the 17 fundamental particles (another example is the photon).
Responsible for the forces that occur in nature, excluding gravity.

What is the significance of emission spectra?

A

Emission spectra provide experimental evidence for the existence of atomic energy levels.

Q

What is ionization energy?

A

Ionization energy is the minimum energy required to remove an electron from a neutral gaseous atom or molecule in its ground-state.
IE increases for the successive ionizations, because with each ionization, an electron is being removed from an increasingly positive species, thus more energy is required.
