how does adding a metal core increase the strength

A

adding a magnetic metal to the core of the solanoi will increase the overall strength of the field because it induces a temporary magnetic field into the iron as it’s a soft magnetic material. This magnet field combines with that of the solenoid creates an even stronger overall magnetic feild
