define physical health with characteristics
functioning of the body and its systems, physical capacity to perform daily tasks
supported by factors such as regular physical activity, consuming a balanced diet, having rest/sleep, maintaining ideal body weight, absence of illness.
define mental health with characteristics
the state of a person’s mind or brain and the ability to think and process information, optimal mental health and wellbeing enables an individual to positively form opinions, make decisions and use logic
self-esteem, confidence, thought patterns, and stress
define emotional health with characteristics
ability to recognise, understand and effectively manage and express emotions as well as the ability to display resilience
recognise, express, experience, and respond to a range of different emotions
define social health with characteristics
the ability to form meaningful and satisfying relationships with others and the ability to manage or adapt appropriately to different social situations. includes the level of support provided by family and within a community to ensure that every person has equal opportunity to function as a contributing member of the society
supported by strong communication skills, empathy for others and a sense of personal accountability
define spiritual health with characteristics
ideas, beliefs, values, and ethics that arise in the mind and conscience of human beings. includes the concepts of hope, peace, guiding sense of meaning or value, and reflection on your place in the world.
can be highly individualised, eg. in some spiritual traditions health may relate to organised religion, a higher power and prayer, in other practices it can relate to morals, values, a sense of purpose in life, connection or belonging
