how do you use dental floss?
take a section of about 18 inches, wind around middle fingers, use thumb and forefinger of each hand to control the floss/tape, use a very gentle see-saw motion to insert the floss interdentally, place the floss/tape around the distal surface of the tooth in a C shape in the gingival crevice in a sweeping motion and then bring out of the crevice
when is a single tufted toothbrush used?
to go around orthodontic brackets and under wires, used for distal surfaces of last standing molars, lone standing or rotated teeth
what is superfloss used for?
fixed orthodontic appliances, bonded retainers and bridges
who is superfloss useful for?
patients who have tight contact points and find ordinary floss very difficult to insert interdentally
who are interdental brushes beneficial for?
patients that have larger interproximal spaces; dental floss/tape would be unsuitable for these individuals, may be due to periodontal disease
what areas need to be cleaned with interdental brushes?
gingival margin and tooth surfaces
