what are the different types of image receptors?
digital receptors, x-ray film packets (intra-oral) and screen-film combinations (extra-oral)
what are the 3 intra-oral types of radiographs?
bitewings, periapicals, occlusals
what is extra-oral type of radiograph?
panoramic
what do bitewings show?
side teeth (premolars and molars), the symmetry of upper and lower teeth and the inter-dental bone
what are bitewings used to look for?
caries and bone issues
what does a periapical show?
only one jaw and is focused on a small number of teeth around the apical area
what does a panoramic show?
all the teeth and gives lots of information
what is an oblique occlusal radiograph?
when the film is placed in occlusal plane with a large periapical style view
what is a true occlusal?
cross-sectional view of teeth
what teeth have single roots?
incisors, canines, some premolars
what teeth have two roots?
some premolars and lower molars
what teeth have three roots?
upper molars
