A

Wear due to tooth tooth contact

  • affects mainly incisal/occlusal surfaces
  • attrition is a natural part of aging, will continue throughout life

what can cause attraction (other than natural)

A

1) Bruxisum and/or clenching
- habit
- can be compounded by different malocclusions eg class II incisors or cross bites
- loss of posterior teeth elads to loss of posterior support, anterior teeth do more work

  • falls
  • bikes
  • swings
  • contact sports
  • non accidental injury
  • increased overjet is a risk factor, teeth pre othro eg in class 2 can be at risk of fracture
  • most common in 8-10 year old boys
  • mouthguards can prevent this
