How does FREQUENT SNACKING affect your risk of tooth decay?
Fequent snacking increases the length of time acids are in contact with your teeth for - thus increasing production of dental plaque therefore dissolving your tooth enamel
How does SMOKING affect your risk of tooth decay?
Tobacco interferes with the production of saliva. Saliva is needed to neutralise acidity levels in the mouth.
How does having a DRY MOUTH affect your risk of tooth decay?
Saliva is responsible for remineralisation therefore If there is little saliva insufficient remineralisation will take place.
Why does FRUIT JUICE increase your risk of tooth decay more so than just consuming FRUIT?
In fruit the sugar is help within the fruit’s cells meaning it is not released until chewing which breaks down these cells. In fruit juice the sugars are no longer held within the cells of the Fruits.
