Tools and Databases Flashcards
USE OF BLASTP
BLASTP is used to compare a protein query sequence to a protein sequence database.
Use of BLASTN
Used to compare a nucleotide query sequence to a nucleotide sequence database. Often used to identify homologous sequences
USE OF BLASTX
BLASTX is used to compare a nucleotide query sequence to a protein sequence database
USE OF TBLASTN
TBLASTN is used to compare a protein query sequence to the six-frame translations of a nucleotide sequence database.
What is the use of NCBI?
NCBI provides access to a vast collection of biomedical and genomic data, including nucleotide and protein sequences, gene expression data, and structural information.
NCBI offers a suite of tools for analyzing and interpreting this data, such as BLAST for sequence similarity searches and CLUSTALW for multiple sequence alignment.
What is the use of UniProtKB?
resource for protein information for a vast collection of protein sequences. This includes: Protein function, Protein structure, variants and isoforms, and literature
What is the use of Procite?
What is the use of Clustal Omega?
What is the use of NEBCutter?
