A long period of dry weather.
The drought in the southern states caused food shortages.

Feeling doubtful, disbelief.

Dumbfound (adj.)
Astonish.
I was dumbfounded when the magician disappeared.

Rub or wipe out, obliterate.
My sadness was effaced when I won the lottery.
Elucidate (v.)
To make understandable or clearer.
After the professor elucidated his point, I fully understood.
