What does the title suggest
It is an ode, almost a song phrasing autumn, links to romanticism, and musicality of poem.
What excessive quotes (2) show that it’s harvesting time like stuff is overflowing, but the intensity of the images make it almost sensors as if Keats is trying to take you on his journey of smell , taste…
“Ripeness to the core”
“To swell the gourd”
Question in fist line of second stanza, the poem is becoming more uncertain, after the excess they are now reasoning and perfecting the food.
“amid thy store?”
Quote thats alliteration presents a soft breeze but also that this is happening naturally
“Winnowing wind”
Quote that shows that autumn is relaxed, and could link to opium which creates a numb like state, which could link to the loss of summer and winter coming
“Drows’d whith the fume of poppies”
First mention of time, beginning to present summer as something that is gong to end not as a forever kinda thing, but verb also presents the slowwww sense of perfecting things
“Last oozings hours by hours”
Second quote abt wind part of the semantic field in the final stanza, but also presents a change from the winnowing wing to this. Keats is saying that we can’t know nature.
“Wind lives or dies”
3 quotes that present the musicality in the pome , from the last stanza that could be emphasising the change to winter and the reflection of the change
“Whistles” “sing” “choir”
What is the poem about?
It’s about the appreciation of autumn and the slight sadness that winter is coming, but then reflecting on it. The poem goes from excess so many things, to Perfection and gathering, to reflection; the poem could perhaps be a metaphor for the process of creating poetry.
