TMA 2 Flashcards
Describe some reasons why people form relationships with each other. (4)
-Some people form relationships as they may want to get married, start and family and have children
-They want to share mutual interest/pleasure
-They are for personal or professional support
-They wish friendship/companionship with another person
Choose a religious view point and describe what it says about the purpose of sex. (4)
-For most Christians, sex is about procreation but also about fostering a loving relationship that is both procreative and unitive
-Catholics believe that sexual activity should only take place in a marriage and should always be open to the possibility of new life but should only occur with full consent from the husband and wife
-The Catholic Church teaches that homosexual relationships that are sexual in nature are not permitted
-The Catholic Church teaches that it is wrong to use contraception as this means the sex is not open to new life and this is wrong as God gave the gift sex to be a loving and life giving act
Explain moral issues arising from consent (4)
-One moral issue that arises from consent is that it is about respecting a person’s right to make their own decisions, without consent it is like treating someone as if they do not have control over their own body
-Another moral issue that arises from consent is that consent should be given freely without any pressure or manipulation, if someone is forced or tricked into agreeing to something that’s not real consent and makes it unethical
EXTRA POINT
-Another moral issue that arises from consent is that in situations where there’s a power imbalance, like between an adult and a child consent can be complicated and the more powerful person may take advantage of the other which makes the situation morally wrong
