What may Christian’s believe about Jesus?
-Jesus was the messiah, promised in the Jewish scriptures and sent by God as a saviour
-He is an incarnation of God himself - Emmanuel (God with us)
-He is God the son, one of the three persons in the trinity
-Through his death and resurrection he defeated sin and heals the relationship between God and humanity
-He performed miracles as a sign of who he was
-He ascended into heaven and will come again to judge the living and the dead
How may beliefs about Jesus affect Christian’s?
-The might expect miracles to happen as Jesus had a miraculous birth and performed miracles while he was alive
-They may join others in following Jesus through the church to show their appreciation of him by worshiping
-They may spread the “good news” about Jesus to other people e.g. through missionary work or in their ordinary interaction with people
-The might study the New Testament in order to find out more about Jesus and his role in salvation
-They would have hope that death is not the end because of the resurrection which shows that they can have a life after death too
-If they are on the margins of society they may feel especially loved and accepted by God
