What is the FDA approved indication and dose of tizanidine hydrochloride?

A

For the short-term treatment of spasticity:

Dose: Start with 4 mg given every 6 to 8 hours with a maximum of three doses in 24 hours. Increase and 2 mg to 4 mg increments to achieve maximum therapeutic response. Maximum daily dose is 36 mg.

Dosage in patients with renal impairment: decrease the frequency of dosing in these patients

  • May cause drowsiness or dizziness. Use caution while operating machinery or when mental alertness is required. - If a dose is missed, skip the missed dose and return to your dosing schedule. Do not double doses.
