Tissue
Tissue: a collection of cells specialised for a particular function
Histology
Histology: the study of the structures of tissues using special staining techniques combined with light and electron microscopy
Biopsy
Biopsy: the removal of a small piece of tissue from an organ or part of the body for microscopic examination
Epithelia
Sheets of contiguous cells, of varied embryonic origin, which cover the external surfaces and line internal surfaces of the body
Gland
Gland: a collection of cells or epithelial cell specialised for secretion
Connective Tissue
A continuum throughout the body linking together muscle, epithelial and nervous tissue whilst also providing metabolic and physiological support
