Prevalence
Prevalence: no. existing cases of a disease in a set population
Crude Birth Rate
no live births per 1000 population
General fertility rate
no live births per 1000 women ages 15-44 in the population
Total period fertility rate
average no children per average woman in her lifetime
crude death rate
No deaths per 1000 population
Age specific death rate
Deaths per 1000 in each age group
Standardised mortality ratio
compare observed and expected deaths in 2 populations with identical age/sex distributions
Confounder
Confounder: something that is associated with both outcome and exposure of interest but is not on the causal pathway.
95% CI
95% CI: range in which we are 95% certain that the true value lies, based on observed data
P value
P value: a measure of how likely it is that the results are due to chance if the null hypothesis is true.
