What is a tissue?
A group of cells with a similar structure and function
How do chloroplasts contribute towards photosynthesis?
Chloroplasts absorb light energy for photosynthesis
What does the epithelial tissue in the stomach do?
The epithelial tissue covers the inner and outer surfaces of the stomach.
In the digestive system, where does digestion happen?
Digestion happens in the stomach and small intestine (and the mouth).
In the digestive system, where is water mostly absorbed?
Colon (large intestine)
Where is bile produced?
The liver
What is the function of the muscular tissue?
It contracts, bringing about movement. It also churns food and other contents of the stomach.
What is the function of the glandular tissue?
It produces substances such as enzymes and hormones. It also produces digestive juices including acid and enzymes.
What is the function of the epithelial tissue?
It covers some parts of the body. It covers the inner and outer surfaces of the stomach.
What is the function of the brain?
It contains a sensitive center called the hypothalamus, which controls the pituitary gland.
What is the function of the thyroid gland?
It produces thyroxine, which controls the rate of metabolism.
What is the function of the adrenal gland?
It produces adrenaline which prepares the body for rapid activity by increasing the heart rate and level of sugar in blood and diverting blood to muscles and brain.
What is the function of pancreas?
They produce insulin which controls blood sugar level
What is the function of testes?
They produce testosterone which causes the changes at puberty and stimulates sperm production
What is the function of an ovary?
Produces oestrogen which causes changes at puberty and helps control the menstrual cycle.
