Tissues Flashcards
What is a tissue?
group of cells with a common function
4 types of tissue
connective, epithelial, muscular, nervous
What is the connective tissue?
Consists of matrix, cells and fibers, gives support and mantain form
How is divided the connective tissue?
loose, dense and specialized
how is the dense connective tissue?
regular: tendons and ligaments
irregular: on dermis
reticular: join tissue
how is the loose connective tissue?
covers muscles and internal organs (flexible)
How is the specialized tissue?
adipose: FAT/ stores energy. INSULATION, PROTECTION
reticular: meshwork
cartilage: vertebrae, knee joint, nose
bone: compact and spongy, hard matrix of inorganic salts
blood: 55% plasma, 45% cells
What is the epithelial tissue?
located in body cavities. Protection Secretion Absortion excretion filtration
Layers of the epithelial tissue?
simple, stratified, pseudostratified
glands on the epithelial tissue?
endocrine, exocrine, mixed
What is the muscular tissue?
consist of cells called muscle fibers
cardiac muscular tissue
INVOLUNTARY, covers the heart
smooth muscular tissue
INVOLUNTARY, covers stomach
skeletal muscle tissue
VOLUNTARY, attached to the bones by tendons
Functions of the nervous tissue
- detects stimuli
- integrates information
- control organs
What is the nervous tissue
detects and respond to internal/external stimuli
Explain and mention the parts of a neuron
cell body: nucleus and cytoplasm
dendrites: conducts signals toward cell body
axon: process that conducts nerves AWAY from the cell
epithelium that secretes a product is…
gland
Fibrocartilage
structures with tension, vertebrae and knee joint
elastic cartilage
nose
hyaline cartilage
nose
tendon
bone to muscle
ligament
bone to bone
