Tissue Level Organization in Human Body Flashcards
It represents the next level of structural complexity in the body after the cellular level.
Tissue level organization
The Four Basic Types of Tissues
Epithelial Tissue , Connective Tissue, Muscle Tissue, Nervous Tissue
It covers body surfaces, lines cavities and organs, and forms glands. It provides protection, absorption, filtration, excretion, and secretion.
Epithelial Tissue
Supports, binds, and protects other tissues and organs. It also stores energy, insulates the body, and transports substances.
Connective Tissue
Responsible for movement and force generation. Muscle tissue contracts to produce body movement, maintain posture, and generate heat.
Muscle Tissue
Voluntary movement, attached to bones (e.g., biceps).
Skeletal Muscle
Involuntary movement, found only in the heart, responsible for pumping blood
Cardiac Muscle
Involuntary movement, found in walls of hollow organs like the intestines, blood vessels, and bladder.
Smooth Muscle
Receives, processes, and transmits information throughout the body, coordinating bodily functions.
Nervous Tissue
Examples of Tissue Combinations in Organs
Heart, Stomach
