A tissue fluid that has entered a lymphatic capillary
What does lymph formation depend on?
Tissue fluid formation
How is tissue fluid made?
From H2O and dissolved substances that leave the blood capillaries by filtration and diffusion
How is plasma colloid osmotic pressure created and its function
By plasma
Draws most of the fluid back into capillaries
Fluid that doesn’t return to the capillaries becomes tissue fluid
What does rising osmotic pressure in the tissues interfere with?
Return of fluids to the bloodstream
What does increasing tissue fluid force?
Some fluid into lymphatic capillaries (lymph)
What are most substances and small proteins returned to blood?
Via lymph
What does lymph also transport?
Foreign particles, bacteria and viruses to lymph nodes for recognition and destruction
