Tissue Flashcards
Four Main Types of Tissues
Epithelium, connective, muscle, nervous Tissues
Covers and lines the surface.
Like skin, lining of the mouth, the nose the digestive tract, and the lungs, as well as the blood vessel.
Epithelium/ Epithelial Tissues
Binding, support, protection, insulation, and transport.
Fat, bone, cartilage, blood, and fibers.
Connective Tissues
Movement and Support of the body.
Skeletal, cardiac, smooth, these can involuntary, or voluntary.
Muscles Tissues
Ne cells, carry signals and support cells which nourish and protect the delicate ne cells.
Nerve Tissues
Mostly of cells which fit together to make constant sheets.
The cells within the tissue may be flat, cubed-shape, tall or a mixture of shapes arranged into one or more layers.
Usually has a high turnover rate because to exposed abrasion, digestive acids, etc.
Epithelium/ Epithelium Tissues
Mostly non-living cells products with some living cells.
Tissue appearance vary depending on type and location.
Connective Tissue
Long cells which can contract to produce movement.
May be smooth or striated
Muscle Tissue
Tissue makes up the brain, the spinal cord, and nerves
Nerve Tissue
