A skin infection caused by a Yeast called Tinea

Why does the name change?

It is given a different name depending on where it occurs e.g Tinea pedis, Tinea Capitis

A dermophyte ringworm fungus

Yes

Who is affected?
A
Most prevalent between the ages 3-7 years old, slightly more common in boys

Signs and Symptoms (7)
A
dry scaling, hair loss, itchy, inflammed red patches, oval/round, healed in the middle, may become pustular

What is the treatment? (2)
A
Topical antifungals e.g Clotrimazole, Oral treatment if topical unsuccessful
