Tiffany's Anatomy Flashcards
Where does the long thoracic n come off of? What does it innervate?
“C5-7 roots. Serratus anterior
Pathology: scapular winging”
Where does the dorsal scapular n come off of? What does it innervate?
C5 root. Rhomboids and levetor scapulae
Where does the suprascapular n come off of? What does it innervate?
Superior trunk (C5-6). Supraspinatus and infraspinatus
What nerves branch off from the lateral cord?
Lateral pectoral, musculocutaneous, median
What nerves branch off the posterior cord?
Upper and lower subscapular, thoracodorsal, axillary, radial
What nerves branch off the medial cord?
Medial pectoral, medial cutaneous of the arm, medial cutaneous of the forearm, median, ulnar
Which cords of the brachial plexus contribute to the median n?
Lateral and medial cords
Which cords form the axillary and radial n?
Posterior cord
What does the thoracodorsal n come off of? What does it innervate?
Posterior cord. Lat dorsi
What nerves innervate pec major? Where do they branch off of on the brachial plexus?
Medial and lateral pectoral n. From medial and lateral cords, respectively
Describe the ossification centers of C1. When do components ossify and fuse?
3 ossification centers: one body and 2 neural arches
Body ossifies at 1yr
Posterior arch fuses at 3yr (formed by the neural arches)
Neurocentral synchondroses fuses at 7yrs. Fusion between the body and the neural arches
Summary: 1/3/7
Describe the ossification centers of C2. When do components ossify and fuse?
6 primary and 2 secondary ossification centers
Primary: body, 2 neural arches, and 2 halves dens (fuse in utero)
Secondary: os terminale and inferior ring apophysis
Os terminale ossifies at 3yrs, fuses to dens at 12yrs
Dentocentral synchondrosis: between body and dens. Fuses at 6yrs
Neural arches fuse w each other and fuse w body at 3yrs
Describe the ossification centers of the subaxial spine. When do components fuse?
3 ossification centers: body and 2 neural arches
Neural arches fuse at 3yrs
Neurocentral synchondroses fuse at 6yrs
