A
The gravitational pull of the moon and the sun
Springs = Sun , Earth & moon in line (MHWS, MLWS)
Neap = Sun & Moon in right angle to the Earth (MHWN, MLWN)

Semi-diurnal tide = two highs and two lows a day
Diurnal tide = one high and one low a day
Mixed tide = Two highs and one low or two lows and one high a day
