How would you do an ECDIS chart correction?

A
  1. Receive chart corrections from an approved source (approved chart management software from where we can download official corrections, read READ ME file)
  2. Download to USB (which sole purpose is ECDIS chart updates)
  3. Take USB and update to ECDIS (one ECDIS at a time)
  4. Produce a system report and print
  5. ENC corrections go in to the NP133C

Alternatively, we can receive the official weekly CDs and do the same thing

Or, manually correct our voyages charts with a manual user layer

How would you do a nautical chart correction? (9 factors)

A
  1. Obtain weekly NTM from an official/approved provider
  2. Use section 1 to update our chart outfit
  3. Use section 2 to see which charts are affected (to be corrected)
  4. Gather equipment (magenta pen, cutter, glue, scissors, pencil, any stencils and a hacksaw blade)
  5. Gather NP5011, NP133A, NP294
  6. Check that the previous correction has been applied (if it has not, go to the cumulative NTM to find the missing correction)
  7. Correct your chart (Magenta ink for correction, Ts&Ps in pencil, notes or blocks - cut and stick with glue)
  8. Place the correction number on the bottom left of the chart
  9. Record this in the chart correction log
