Why does hyperthyroidism cause osteoporosis?

A
  • high T3 inhibits the level of active vitamin D
  • decreases ABSORPTION of calcium and phosphorus (intestine & kidney)
  • increased EXCRETION of calcium and phosphorus (kidney)
