Thyroid Cartilage Flashcards
the thyroid cartilage is connected to
the cricoid cartilage (underneath)
these two are connected at the
cricothyroid joint
the two cartilages can
rotate relative to each other along the axis of the cricothyroid joint
there is a space between the lower edge of the main body of the thyroid joint and the arch of the cricoid, called the
cricothyroid space
this space (cricothyroid) can be
opened and closed, these two conditions influence TVF body cover
the conditions of thyroid are
vertical
tilt
vertical (THYROID) is
the condition of the thyroid cartilage in quiet breathing
tilt is
where the cricothyroid muscle is actively engaged and the thyroid cartilage is rotating forward (space gets smaller)
