Single Engine Turnaround
Prior to opening L1 door, FA must:
- ensure FO is in forward cabin
- hand FO SET kit
- ensure A/C has come to a complete stop
- props have fully stopped turning
after L1 opening:
- FA to remain in L1 station when stairs deployed.
- ground staff member will relieve FA from bottom of the stairs so FA can complete turnaround duties
- FA may leave L1 station to perform headcount once FO has relieved FA at the top of stairs (after FO has completed their walkaround)
PAX usage of lav:
- FA must liaise with CAPT prior to L1 closure
- FA to recite “pre-flight toilet PA”
- L1 MUST be closed and seatbelt sign must be OFF
- FA to advise flight deck “Toilet Clear”
Pre-flight Serviceability - Puritan Bennet Smoke Hood
- Ensure tamper-proof seals are intact
- Ensure the vacuum sealed foil pouch has not obviously expanded
Operation of a Scott Oxygen Bottle
(RITE way)
- Remove dust cover (if fitted)
- Insert metal connector of the transparent oxygen tube into the appropriate flow outlet
- Turn the ON/OFF regulator valve fully anti-clockwise
- Ensure oxygen is flowing by checking the flow indicator
Operation - Puritan Bennet Smoke Hood
- Open the stowage container by pulling the red strap
- Open the foil pouch by pulling along the red tag
- Remove the smoke hood from the pouch
- Palms facing each other, place both hands inside the elastic neck seal of the smoke hood with the visor facing downwards
- Widen the elastic neck seal with the back of your hands
- Guide the smoke-hood over back of head and down over the face, shielding your face from blue nasal mask with your hands
- ensure your clothing, jewellery and hair is clear of the elastic neck seal
- pull the neck shield down over neck and upper shoulders with both hands
- grasp both adjustment straps at the lower corners at the front of the visor
- grasp both adjustment straps forward rapidly and simultaneously to activate the oxygen generator and inflate the smoke-hood
- pull the adjustment straps simultaneously backwards to seal the blue nasal mask over the nose and mouth
- adjust the smoke hood from the outside
- position the nasal mask high on the nose
- adjust the nasal mask and tighten the adjustment straps if necessary
Removal of the Puritan Bennet Smoke-Hood
- Move to a safe area, clear of fire and area affected by toxic fumes
- release the adjustment straps by pushing the buckles forward with thumbs
- palms facing each other, place hands under the elastic neck seal and widen the elastic neck seal
- ease the smoke-hood up and over the face
- brush hair with hands to break down any oxygen build up
- After removal store in a safe dry place and allow time for it to cool.
Oxygen Bottle Precautions
- do not allow oxygen to flow onto oil or grease to avoid an explosion
- do not use oxygen near an open flame as this may cause rapid combustion
- wipe any heavy makeup off a person’s face as grease-based makeup may ignite and cause burns
- handle oxygen bottles with care
Pre-flight serviceability - Smoke Mask
Contained in a sealed bag
Undamaged
Operation - Smoke Mask
- Secure 310L oxygen bottle to self using sling with bottle worn on the front
- Insert Smoke Mask connector
- (if using 310L Oxygen bottle) turn ON/OFF regulator valve of oxygen bottle fully anti-clockwise
- Purge the smoke mask to clear any debris or smoke and ensure oxygen is flowing
- apply smoke mask to face
- tighten 5 straps firmly to ensure an air tight seal
- regulate flow of oxygen
- turn emergency selector fully anti clockwise for constant flow
- turn emergency selector fully clockwise for on demand
Assist Fire Fighter Drill - Initial Contact with flight deck
- location of fire or smoke
- source of fire or smoke
- colour density and smell of smoke
Assist Fire Fighter Drill - follow up contact with flight deck
- status of situation
- effect on passengers
- number of fire extinguishers used
Cabin Compartment Fire Drill - Hot
- Check door/walls
- move PAX away from area
- open door slightly
- discharge BCF
- close door
- wait ONE minute
- reopen door slightly
- establish if fire is extinguished
- repeat procedure until fire extinguished
- saturate affected area with water or non flammable liquid

- Check door/walls
- move PAX away from area
- open door slightly
- investigate
- gain access to fire
- discharge BCF
- establish if fire is extinguished
- repeat procedure until fire extinguished

Unaccompanied Minors (UMs)
What ages must travel as a UM when unaccompanied?

If there is a discrepancy in UM paperwork, who must FA advise?

What must FA ensure if a child has medication listed on UM paperwork?

If a child appears to be under the age of 12 appearing to be alone and does not have UM wristband, what must FA ask?

- you may be required to assist with the operation of this exit (point)
- only if you hear the command “evacuate, evacuate” should you take action
- first check outside condition for fire, water or any other obstructions
- this exit must not be used if we land on water
- if conditions are not safe, do not open exit, and move to your nearest usable exit
- if the exit is safe to open, remove the cover and pull down on the handle (point)
- turn the exit on its side, throw it out and evacuate the aircraft
- you must follow crew instructions at all times
- once again, only if you hear the command “evacuate” should you take action
- do you have any questions?

- you may be required to assist with the operation of these exits (point)
- only if you hear the command “evacuate, evacuate” should you take action

- turn the exit on its side, throw it out and evacuate the aircraft

- once again, only if you hear the command “evacuate” should you take action
