Land Evacuation

A

Approx 1 minute prior to impact I will hear either:
* ‘This is the Captain, Brace! Brace!’ or
* Seatbelt sign cycled twice creating four chimes.
I will shout ‘Heads Down, Stay Down!’

After impact I will wait for one of two commands, either:
* ‘This is the Captain. Everyone remain seated!’ or,
* ‘This is the Captain. Flight Attendant to your station!’

If commanded to my station I will:
* Unfasten harness

If commanded to ‘Evacuate’, I will:
* Ensure emergency lights ON
* Shout initial commands
* I will check outside conditions
* Open usable exits / guard unusable exits
* Instruct passengers not to open unusable exits if necessary
* Shout exit commands
* Shout evacuation commands
* Evacuate passengers (using torch as required)
* Check cabin
* Collect equipment (if safe to do so)
* Shout final commands
* Exit aircraft, through primary or secondary escape paths and report to crew

Water Evacuation

A

After impact I will initiate the evacuation, I will:
* Unfasten harness
* Ensure emergency lights ON
* Shout initial commands
* Don life jacket (do not inflate)
* Check outside conditions
* Open usable exits/guard unusable exits
* Instruct passengers not to open unusable exits if necessary
* Shout exits commands
* Shout evacuation commands (once overwing exits have been opened. when relieved by crew move to the overwing exits)
* Evacuate passengers using torch as required
* Check cabin
* Collect equipment (if safe to do so)
* Shout final commands
* Exit aircraft through the primary or secondary escape path, inflate life jacket and report to crew

Emergency Depressurisation - Emergency Decent

A

Upon hearing ‘This is the Captain, Emergency Descent!’ I will,
- secure myself and the trolley
Upon hearing ‘This is the Captain, a safe altitude has been reached’ I will,
- follow the ‘depressurisation follow up drill’

Hijacking

A

(FACE)

  • Follow the hijacker’s instructions
  • Attempt to keep the hijacker out of the flight deck
  • Contact the flight deck via the ‘EMERGENCY’ call button saying “Captain I must come to the flight deck immediately”
  • Establish whether the hijacker has a weapon
