Symptoms of DVT:
A
- Leg swelling or oedema
- Pain
- Warmth
- Erythema
- Usually unilateral (but can be bilateral)
- Calf symptoms (distal DVT)
- Calf or whole leg symptoms (proximal DVT)

Common risk factors of DVT:
A
- History of immobilization or prolonged hospitalization
- Recent surgery or trauma (typically within 12 weeks)
- Obesity
- Previous venous thromboembolism (VTE)
- Malignancy or constitutional symptoms suggestive of malignancy
- Use of oral contraceptives or hormone replacement therapy
- Pregnancy or postpartum
- Stroke with hemiplegia or immobility
- Age >65 years
- Family history of VTE
- Heart failure
- Inflammatory bowel disease
