What is an Insider Threat?
Anyone who is within an establishment or company who knowingly or unknowingly becomes a threat to that establishment or company. Effectively someone on the inside of something who may cause harm or damage to it.
What is an Unwitting Insider in relation to an ‘Insider Threat’
Anyone who unknowingly poses a threat to an organisation or company generally through negligence or accident. This could be through something as simple as forgetting to encrypt sensitive documents before sending them on
What is a Witting Insider in relation to ‘Insider Threat’
Someone within an organisation or company who DELIBERATELY and KNOWINGLY exploits equipment or information to cause damage or harm to that organisation or company usually for their own gain.
