PA: inferior edge of superior rib to the superior surface of the rib below

A: respiration; most active during inhalation
Diaphragm
PA: SP: xiphoid process
CP: inner surface of ribs
LP: ant. Surface of 1-3 lumber vertebrae
I: phrenic nerve (c3-5)
Sensory innervation of IC nerves t7-12
A: primary muscle for respiration
Internal intercostals
PA: passes between the most inferior lateral edge of the costal grooves of ribs above, to the superior surface of ribs below
I: intercostals
A: respiration; forceful expiration
Innermost intercostals
Attached to the internal surfaces of the adjacent ribs along the medial edge of the costal grooves
