Who was Thomas Paine?
A
Thomas Paine was born in England. However, he played a large role in the Revolution. He wrote the pamphlet Common Sense first. This pamphlet tried to convince colonists to be on the rebel side. American Crisis came next. This pamphlet came at a dark time in the Revolution, when lots of the troops wanted to go home. American crisis convinced them to do otherwise. Then there was rights of man. This pamphlet defended the Enlightenment principles, such as freedom and equality.
