The Boston tea party took place in December 1773. The Sons of Liberty organized the protest. The colonists dressed up as the Native Americans and dumped the tea in to Boston Harbor. The British responded to the protest by closing Boston harbor and sending in British troops. Lots of colonists lost money because of this, as they could not sell their goods to people in other colonies or people in Europe.
