  • precursor for developing tom

A

eye contact: approach signal + or -, intention to interact
higher direction gaze:
->persuasive and deceptive, approach signal
->more pleasant and less nervous
-> high attractiveness and likability

how does eye gaze effect facial expression?

A

Adams and Kleck, 2003

faster at detecting angry faces w directed gaze (directed gaze-> approach)
and fear w averted faces( averted gaze-> avoid)

= quicker to detect when congruent

joy= approach, direct gaze
sad=avoidance, averted gaze

eye gaze affects how quickly we recognize facial expression
