Within the context of the Philippine society, nursing
education with caring as the foundation, subscribes to
the following core values which are vital components in
the development of a professional nurse and are
emphasized in the BSN program:

another’s suffering
the humane quality of understanding the
suffering of others and wanting to do
something about it
the need to holistically address the unique
physical, emotional, and social needs of each
person as an individual, not as a collection of
symptoms
COMPASSION
the state or quality of being adequately or well
qualified to perform a specific role
encompasses a combination of knowledge,
skills and attitude utilized to improve
performance
this leads to an improved quality of patient
care and an increased patient satisfaction
with the nurses
COMPETENCE
a feeling of trust in someone or something
a feeling of self-assurance arising from an
appreciation of one’s own abilities
self confidence has been reported as being a
key component for effective clinical
performance, and confident students are more
likely to be more effective nurses
CONFIDENCE
motivation deriving logically from ethical or
moral principles that govern a person’s
thoughts and actions
the inherent knowledge or sense of what is
right and wrong

the trait of sincere and steadfast fixity of

refers to everything
