An offence that is punishable by law

Something legally done to someone who has been found guilty of breaking the law

What are the three aims of punishment?
Retribution, Deterrence and Reformation
What aim of punishment do Christians prefer?
Reformation, as it allows criminals back into society as better people
What is retribution?
To get your own back
What is deterrence?
To put people off committing crimes
What is reformation?
To change someone’s behaviour for the better
Define Free Will
The ability of people to make decisions for themselves without constraint
What is corporal punishment?
Punishment that causes physical pain to an offender
What is community service?
Punishment that makes offenders do unpaid work in the community
What is capital punishment?
Punishment that puts an offender to death for their actions
Why are Christians against Capital Punishment?
It takes away the sanctity of life
