What does transcendent mean?
Allah is outside of life on Earth - not affected by time. This means that he can act in the world but not be affected by it.
What does immanent mean?
Allah is present and involved in all life on Earth and the universe.
What are angels?
Spiritual beings that are considered to be messengers of God
What are some qualities of Angels?
- Never disobey God
- Can only be seen if they take human form
- Have no free will
- Are NOT worshipped
Who is angel Jibril?
- Was the angel who recited the Qu’ran to Muhammad
- Purified Muhammad’s heart as a child
- Helped Muhammad to connect to Allah
Who is angel Mika’il?
- Known as the angel of mercy
- Has been assigned the power to reward the good, but punish the bad
- Though to have brought nourishment to Earth by causing rain
Why are angels important to Muslims on a daily basis?
Guardian angels record all actions and thoughts of people and construct a book of their lives for the Day of Judgement. This causes them to act within Allah’s will so that they have a chance at eternal life with Allah in Heaven.
What does Al-Qadr mean?
‘Predestination’
What does Al-Qadr suggest about life?
- Allah has already determined our fate
- Our destiny cannot be damaged
- We only have one life on Earth - live in well!
Why is Al-Qadr important to Muslims?
It demonstrates one of his names, Al-Alim (the all-knowing)
What do Sunni and Shi’s Muslims believe about predestination?
Sunni: Muslims are predestined, but have free will
Shi’a: Muslims are 100% accountable for their actions, and therefore they influence their afterlives

Who was Adam?
- Caretaker of the Earth
- Father of humankind
- Teacher to people about Allah
Why is Adam important to Muslims?
- Beginning all human life
- He built the Ka’aba (place of worship)
What did Ibrahim do?
- Was willing to sacrifice his only son, Ismail, for Allah
- Smashed all idols/statues in the Ka’aba
- Rebuilt the Ka’aba with his son
Why is Ibrahim important to Muslims?
- Preached ideas about Allah to people
- Proved that all idols were fake (threw them into the river, they sunk, showing they have no power)
Who was Muhammad?
- Most important prophet in Islam
- Had the Qu’ran recited to him
- Set up the 5 pillars
- Made the journey from Mecca to Medina
- Taught Muslims to pray 5 times a day
Why is Muhammad important to Muslims?
- He was the perfect example of man on Earth
- He was a good leader of men
- He showed many qualities that Allah also shares
- He was an excellent leader of the Muslims and kept the religion going in times of trouble (during the 3 battles against the Makkans)
Describe the events that will happen after death:
1 - You die
2 - A state of waiting (Barzakh)
3 - Angel Israfil blows the trumpet to signal the end of the world
4 - Bodies are raised
5 - Books of deeds handed to everyone
6 - Allah judges everyone, and sends them to Heaven or Hell
Describe Heaven in Islam:
- A garden of everlasting bliss
- A ‘home of peace
- No sickness, pain or sadness.
Define Hell in Islam:
A state of eternal suffering without the presence of Allah, with raging fires for eternity.
