Theme Summary
Drives people to seek knowledge, it’s either suppressed or fulfilled in each character
In this novel, curiosity lacks any negative connotations, making passive characters weak
Characters’ curiosities are also transferred to the reader as they also want to solve the case
Despite Mr. Enfield’s self-professed lack of curiosity, he has an eye for picking out a curious circumstance.

Mr. Enfield differs from Utterson in terms of curiosity

Utterson is curious, but believes there is a non-supernatural explanation for everything, found by inquiry
