Not all births are recorded.
What are the limitations of measuring access to safe water?
Flooding may affect water quality.
What are the limitations of measuring life expectancy?
If infant mortality rates are high, the life expectancy may also be high.
How does gender affect social development?
In some countries, women still have very few rights which declines their literacy and life expectancy rates.

Human Development Index - considers social and economic factors.
How is the quality of healthcare measured?
Seeing how much GDP is spent on healthcare in a country.
What 3 factors increase birth rates?
The need for child labour
Women marry early and have more children
High IMR
What 4 factors decrease birth rates?
Marrying later and having fewer children
Cost of living is higher
Women spending more time on careers
Birth control being avaliable
What 2 factors increase the death rate?
Diseases - HIV, Malaria + Ebola
Ageing population - Die off at around the same time

What are 4 reasons for child labour?
Poverty - parents have no money
No (free) education
No labour laws
AIDs - parents too unwell to work/ may have died
How does the ILO respond to child labour?
International labour organisation (ILO) - support countries to improve labour laws, access to education + public awareness.
How does the UN respond to child labour?
United Nations (UN) - Laws created to ban child labour + include minimum wage.
How do charities respond to child labour?
Charities (like child hope) - raise awareness to stop public buying child labour products.
How does improving education help prevent child labour?
This will allow children to have a proper education and be able to get well paid jobs.
What is a refugee?
Someone who has fled their home du to serious risk to life/liberty.

In WW2 many fled from NAZI occupation
Currently, Europe have lots of refugees from Middle Eastern/African countries.
How is Lebanon impacted by forced migration?
1/4 of their population is from Syria as they must escape the war there.
This increased their population by 25%

Increased boarder patrol

What are the struggles of HIV and malaria?
If HIV isn’t treated, it may turn into AIDS which can affect the death rate of a country.
Malaria can infect pregnant woman which can lead to a high IMR.
