Q

What is incomplete dominance

What is codominance

A

Intermediate phenotype (blending) since one allele is not completely dominant to other allele.

Both traits are expressed, dominant alleles fight for expression

Q

What does it mean when traits are polygenic

A

Multiple genes are responsible for contributing to one particular trait

Ex. Length of corn ears

More dom alleles give longer ear of corn

Q

If something is heterozygous how many types of gametes does it make

What about homozygous

Q

What is incomplete dominance

A

Intermediate phenotype, one allele isn’t completely dominant to other allele

There is a functional enzyme and a non functional, the plants make some functional enzyme but not enough so we get intermediate phenotype

Use superscript to label the alleles

Q

What is codominance

A

Alleles have equal effects (dominant alleles fight for expression)

The heterozygote shows both homozygote phenotypes at same time (speckled)
