¿Cómo es tu familia? ¿Cuántas personas hay en tu familia?
En mi familia hay tres personas. Mi madre se llama Deborah, mi padre se llama Finbar, y yo. Vivimos juntos en Margate. La familia de mi padre vive en Irlanda, aunque mis primos viven cerca de aquí.
What’s your family like? How many people are there in your family?
In my family there are three people. My mother who is called Deborah, my father who is called Finbar and me. We live in Margate together. My father’s family live in Ireland, although my cousins live near here.
¿Puedes describir a una persona de tu familia?
Uno de mis primos se llama Pedro. Es muy gracioso y nunca molesto. Es bastante bajito y tiene el pelo corto y oscuro. Aunque trabaja mucho, no saca buenas notas. Espera poder venir a nuestro colegio el año que viene. Es más deportista que yo, pero a los dos nos gusta jugar al fútbol con nuestros amigos.
Can you describe a person in your family?
One of my cousins is called Pedro. He is very funny and never annoying. He is quite short and has short, dark hair. Although he works hard, he doesn’t have good grades. He hopes that he can come to our school next year. He is more sporty than me but we both like to play football with our friends too.
¿Te llevas bien con tu familia?
Me llevo bien con mi padre porque es bastante trabajador y muy paciente. En cambio, discuto a menudo con mis tíos, porque son fastidiosos e impacientes. También confío en mi madre cuando tengo dificultades. En general, me gusta pasar tiempo con mi familia.
Do you get on well with your family?
I get on well with my father because he is quite hardworking and very patient. On the other hand, I often argue with my aunt and uncle, because they are annoying and impatient. I also confide in my mother when I have difficulties. In general, I like to spend time with my family.
¿Qué hiciste con tu familia el fin de semana pasado?
Hace una semana y media, mis padres y yo fuimos al cine para ver una película de acción. El argumento era ridículo, pero disfrutamos de la experiencia. El mes que viene veremos otra película y ya hemos comprado las entradas. Sin embargo, si pudiera elegir, iría al parque porque la película me parece muy tediosa.
What did you do last weekend with your family?
A week and a half ago, my parents and I went to the cinema to see an action film. The plot was absurd but we enjoyed the experience. Next month we will see a new film and we have already bought the tickets. However, if I had a choice, I would go to the park instead because the film seems very boring.
¿Qué sueles hacer en tu tiempo libre?
Me gusta jugar al fútbol porque es divertido y es un deporte bueno para el cuerpo y la mente. También hago atletismo porque es muy bueno para el corazón, pero es un poco aburrido. No hago trampolín porque creo que está sobrevalorado.
What do you tend to do in your free time?
I like playing football because it’s fun and it’s a sport that’s good for the body and the mind. Also I to do athletics because it’s great for the heart, but it’s a bit boring. I don’t do trampolining because I think that it’s overrated.
¿Eres teleadicto?
Creo que no soy teleadicto puesto que casi nunca veo la tele. Pienso que las telenovelas son muy tontas y los concursos también. No me chiflan las series policiacas porque son repetitivas y tediosas. Vería una comedia si es graciosa. Diría que no tengo un programa favorito.
Are you a TV addict?
I think I’m not a TV addict since I almost never watch TV. I think that soap operas are very silly and game shows are also. I’m not crazy about police series because they’re repetitive and dull. I would watch a comedy if it’s funny. I would say I don’t have a favourite show.
¿Prefieres ver películas en casa o en el cine?
Me apasiona ver películas en el cine porque la imagen es mejor en la pantalla grande, aunque otras personas son ruidosas y si vas al baño te pierdes una parte. Cuando tenga la oportunidad, iré a un cine IMAX.
Do you prefer to watch films at home or in the cinema?
I am passionate about watching movies in the cinema because the image is better on the big screen, although other people are noisy and if you go to the toilet you miss a part. When I have the chance, I will go to an IMAX cinema.
¿Eres deportista?
Desde mi punto de vista, soy bastante deportista porque juego regularmente al fútbol. Cuando era más joven, me encantaba probar diferentes deportes, ya que era mucho más divertido que leer. Sin embargo, en este momento necesito repasar para mis próximos exámenes.
Are you sporty?
From my point of view, I am quite sporty because I regularly play football. When I was younger, I loved to try different sports since it was much more fun than reading. However, at the moment I need to revise for my upcoming exams.
¿Qué planes tienes para el próximo fin de semana?
Espero que haga buen tiempo y pueda salir con mis amigos. Sin embargo, podría llover, así que probablemente me quedaré en casa repasando. Cuando termine los exámenes, me gustaría relajarme todo el verano.
What plans do you have for next weekend?
I hope that the weather is good and I can go out with my friends. However, it could rain, so I will probably stay at home revising. When I finish my exams, I would like to relax all summer.
¿Prefieres pasar tiempo con tu familia o con tus amigos?
Siempre he pasado mucho tiempo con mi familia, así que pasar tiempo con mis amigos es más interesante. Por otra parte, me llevo bien con mis padres, así que disfruto de su compañía.
Do you prefer to spend time with your family or with your friends?
I have always spent a lot of time with my family, therefore spending time with my friends is more interesting. On the other hand, I get on well with my parents, so I enjoy their company.
¿Si tuvieras mucho dinero, qué harías en tu tiempo libre?
Si fuera muy rico, podría hacer cualquier cosa en mi tiempo libre. Iría de compras muchas veces sin tener que preocuparme por gastar demasiado. Además, si tuviera mucho dinero, no necesitaría trabajar, así que tendría mucho más tiempo para relajarme.
If you were to have lots of money, what would you do in your free time?
If I was very rich, I would be able to do anything in my free time. I would go shopping lots of times without having to worry about spending too much. In addition, if I had a lot of money, I wouldn’t need to work so I would have lots more time to relax.
¿Podrías vivir sin móvil por 24 horas?
A diferencia de la mayoría de mis compañeros, creo que podría vivir sin mi móvil durante un día. Mucha gente utiliza las redes sociales a menudo, pero yo no. En cambio, prefiero hacer deporte porque me ayuda a mantenerme en forma y a olvidarme de todo.
Could you live without your phone for 24 hours?
Unlike most of my classmates, I think I could live without my phone for a day. Lots of people use social media often, but I don’t. Instead, I prefer to do sport because it helps me stay in shape and to forget about everything.
¿Cuándo eras más pequeño/a, eras más deportista?
Cuando era pequeño, tenía mucho más tiempo que ahora. Me gustaba jugar al fútbol cuando podía, mientras que ahora prefiero hacer algo más productivo.
When you were younger, were you more sporty?
When I was little, I had lots more time than I do now. I liked playing football when I could, whereas at the moment, I prefer to do something more productive.

¿Prefieres ver deportes en la tele o en directo?
Cuando veo deportes en la tele me permite ver fácilmente todos los momentos destacados. Además, es mucho menos caro que ir a un estadio. Sin embargo, a pesar del precio, el ambiente de un partido en directo es increíble. Por eso me gustaría ir a la próxima Copa Mundial.
Do you prefer watching sports on TV or live?
When I watch sports on TV it allows me to easily see all the highlights. Furthermore, it is much less expensive than going to a stadium. However, despite the price, the atmosphere of a live match is incredible. That’s why I would like to go to the next World Cup.
