finklesteins test
-patient makes a fist with thumb inside fingers
-ulnar deviate (towards floor)
testing= Tenosynovitis Abd Pol Long, Ext Pol Brevis
positive test= Pain on Lat Wrist
phalen’s/ reverse phalen’s
-dorsal hands together
-hold for 2 mins (if positive will usually get symptoms in 10 secs no need to carry on)
-increases pressure in carpal tunnel
-palmar hands pressed together
-increases pressure quicker- more invasive
testing= Carpal tunnel syndrome
positive test= Pain, numbness, tingle distal to compression
Ulnomeniscotriquetral dorsal glide
-patient sits or stands with arm pronated
-examiner places a thumb over ulna dorsally and places the proximal
interphalangeal joint of the index finger of the same hand
over the pisotriquetral complex anteriorly.
-While stabilizing
the ulna, the examiner applies a posteriorly directed
force through the pisotriquetral complex stressing the
TFCC
testing= Triangular fibrocartilage damage
positive test= Pain or Laxity area of TFCC
TFCC dorsal glide
- The examiner holds the patient’s forearm with
one hand and the patient’s hand with the other hand.
-The examiner then axially loads and ulnarly deviates the
wrist while moving it dorsally and palmarly or by rotating the forearm
testing= Triangular fibrocartilage damage
positive test= Pain or Laxity area of TFCC
Tinel’s test
-tests for ulnar nerve
-tap cubital fossa
medial-
-move towards pronator
wrist-
-tap over cubital row (carpel tunnel)
testing= neuropathy
positive test= Pain, numbness, tingle distal to compression
allens test
-arm supinated and wrist flexed
-patient makes a fist
-examiner blocks ulnar/ radial arteries
-patient clasps/ pumps fist to remove excess blood
-let go of one artery and repeat with other artery
testing= Artery Stenosis or Occclusion
positive test= Skin remians blanched for greater than 5 Seconds
