What is a trade union
A trade union is an organisation of workers set up to promote its members rights and interest.
It aims to increase members pay
Aims to improve members working conditions
E.g -Irish Congress of trade union(ICTU)
-Association of secondary teachers Ireland (ASTI)
What is a shop Steward
A shop steward is the worker who has been elected by trade union members to represent them in the workplace. The main role is
to encourage nonmember workers to join.
To help resolve industrial relation issues in the workplace.
What is an official strike
Unofficial strike is supported by the ICTU when:
Union members vote and support of the strike during the secret ballot.
One weeks notice of the strike has been given to the employer.

An unofficial strike is called a wildcat/lightning strike. Sympathetic strike and work to rule/go slower other forms of strikes.

Mediation: during the voluntary process, both sides to a dispute agreed to work towards a solution with the help of a third-party called a mediation offer.
Conciliation: this voluntary process helps employers and employees to settle distributes that they have not been able to resolve during earlier negotiations 
What happenes of an industrial dispute cannot be resolved
They can go to the Labour court
