اللَّفْظُ
Anything uttered in the form of speech in Arabic. The utterance can have meaning (الْمَوْضُوْع) or be meaningless (الْمُهْمَل).
اللَّفْظُ الْمَوْضُوْع
The meaningful utterance. There are two types
الْمُفْرَد: The singe utterance
الْمُرَكَّب: The combined utterance
الْمُفْرَد
The utterance if a single word that is meaningful, more commonly known as الْكلِمة. Has three types;
الاِْسْمُ - The noun
الْفعْلُ - The verb
الْحٓرْفُ - The particle
الْمُرَكَّب
The utterance that is a combination of two or more words.
الاِْسْمُ الجَامِد
The defective noun: Is not derived from a root nor is any other word derived from it. Examples رَجُلٌ (a man) or فَرَسٌ (a horse).
الْمَصْدَر
Verbal noun/infinitive:not derived from a root but many words are derived from it. For example الْنَصْرُ (to help). The words نَصَرَ (he helped), يَنْصُرُ (he is helping) and نَاصِرٌ (helper) are all derived from it.
الاِْسْمُ الْمُشْتَقُّ
The derivative noun: This type of noun is derived for a root namely a مصدر (verbal noun/infinitive). For example نَاصِرٌ (helper) and مَنْصُوْرٌ (the helped) are derived from النَّصْر (to help).
الْفِعْلُ الْمَاضِي
The past tense verb
الْفِعْلُ الْمُضَارِعُ
The present and future tense verb
الْفِعْلُ الأمْرُ
The imperative or command verb.
الْفِعْلُ النَّهْيُ
The prohibitive verb.
الْحَرفُ العَامِل
The governing particle.
غيْرُ الْعَامِل
The non-governing particle
