Election of Vice President
Vice president is it indirectly elected by means of single transferable vote.
Qualifications for becoming a vice president of India
Must be a citizen of India
Must be over the age of 35
Must not hold any office of profit under the government of India
Qualified for election as a member of Rajya Sabha Sabha
Re-election of Vice President
A sitting vice president is eligible for re-election Dr S Radhakrishnan was elected as the vice president of India for a second term in 1957.
Functions of a vice president
No functions are attached to the office of Vice President. The normal functions of a vice president is to act as the ex-officio chairman of Rajya Sabha.

Removal of Vice President
A formal impeachment is not required for vice president’s removal
Vice president can be removed by a resolution of Rajya Sabha passed by a majority of its member and agreed by the Lok Sabha.

Article 65(1)
If any vacancy occurs in the office of president, vice president acts as president until a new president is elected and enters upon his office.
If both office of President and Vice President fall vacant by reason of death, resignation, removal etc. The chief Justice of India or in his absence the senior most judge of Supreme Court acts as the President.
Article 97
When the vice president access president, he gets the emoluments of the President and will not be entitled for the salary or emoluments of the vice president for the period period.
Article 91
When vice president acts as a president, and the deputy chairman of Rajya Sabha acts as its chairman.
Article 71
Determination of doubts and disputes relating to the election of president or vice president is described in article 71 :
Such disputes are decided by Supreme Court whose Jurisdiction is exclusive and final.
No such dispute can be raised on the ground of any vacancy in the electoral college.
If the election of President on vice president is declared void by the Supreme Court, extent by him prior to the date of such decision of Supreme Court is not invalidated.
Matters other than the decision of such disputes are regulated by the law made by Parliament.
