The Top Six Fears That Keep People From Sharing the Gospel Flashcards
1 I’m afraid of being rejected.
For me personally, I don’t know of an emotion stronger than rejection.
So, I must remind myself – Which do I value more? Their acceptance or Christ’s smile?
2 I’m afraid of what my friends will think.
Perhaps we have forgotten the end of those who have not been born again.
We must quit believing the lie that they are not damned.
We can either share the gospel or we can say nothing – and in our silence – love our friends into hell.
3 I’m afraid my friends will persecute me.
Isn’t that just what Jesus promised?
In John 15:20 He said, “Remember the word that I said to you, ‘A servant is not greater than his master.’ If they persecuted Me, they will also persecute you.”
But that’s not all bad news.
Matthew 5:10-12 promises, “Blessed are those who are persecuted for righteousness’ sake, For theirs is the kingdom of heaven. Blessed are you when they revile and persecute you, and say all kinds of evil against you falsely for My sake. Rejoice and be exceedingly glad, for great is your reward in heaven, for so they persecuted the prophets who were before you.
4 I don’t think I can share with my coworkers.
Well, I don’t think we should steal time from our employer in order to present the gospel.
However, those five SJQuestions only take a few minutes to ask and they allow us to “test the waters” to see if a coworker is open to the gospel.
And if he is open to the gospel, invite him to lunch to present the good news.
5 I’m afraid of losing my friends and relatives.
Matthew 10:37-38 says, “He who loves father or mother more than Me is not worthy of Me. And he who loves son or daughter more than Me is not worthy of Me.
38 “And he who does not take his cross and follow after Me is not worthy of Me.”
6 I don’t know how.
In just a few minutes that will never be a problem for you again.
Before we are finished, you will be able to share the gospel in 30 seconds or less.
