Q

What is diffusion (passive transport)?

A

Substances spread from regions of high concentration to low, until equilibrium is reached so the same concentration is everywhere.

There are two kinds of diffusion;
simple diffusion and facilitated diffusion

Q

What is simple diffusion?

A

Simple diffusion through lipid bilayer ( O2 and CO2 move this way in or out of a cell)

Q

What is facilitated diffusion?

A

Facilitated diffusion through transport proteins (water, fatty acids, glucose, urea)

Q

What is active transport?

A

Energy is expended to move substances from region of low concentration to high concentration. It is through transport proteins (amino acids, and ions)

Q

What is no transport?

A
